Kingston Pride Parade
Saturday June 7th, 2008
The Pride Parade has many purposes. As well as being an opportunity to get together with your queer friends and make new acquaintances, our presence on the street serves as a reminder to all those who see that we are everywhere. The parade also sends a message of hope and support to those who are coming to terms with their sexuality and gender identity. Some people take part in the Parade as an act of solidarity. Others like to celebrate the work and lives of those who fought so hard for our equal rights. It’s worth remembering that in years past we were calling for equality in marriage and now we have won that battle. Pride is an opportunity to have fun and celebrate our diversity.
We encourage you to dress up or dress down, create a banner or float, bring noise makers and have fun! This is our day, in our City. We hope you join us!
